Of Time, directed in 2003 by Carl Franklin and starring Denzel Washington
and Eva Mendes.
Denzel Washington won his second Oscar, and his first in
a leading role, for his portrayal of a cop in a crime thriller. Here he is back
in a similar part, but this time things get a lot more personal.
Matt Whitlock (Denzel Washington) is a small-town police
chief with a drinking problem, and the custodian of $450 000, the plunder from
a drug bust. But before he can hand over the cash to the authorities, he makes
a decision that will soon pin him as the prime suspect in a murder case.
