(Adams shop from 1865
till about 1900)
In the Mondays @ Six at St Clements programme on October 26,
Peter Adams will give an illustrated talk on Adams and Co’s 150 years as
Booksellers and Stationers in Durban, entitled, How Things Change!
This concludes the series of talks celebrating the rich
cultural tapestry of Durban, which started with Kevan Mardon reminding us of The Golden Years of Broadcasting and Barbara
Maude-Stone’s talk with slides of her collection of postcards of Dear Old Durban.
Peter Adams’s family firm - Adams Booksellers - turns 150
this year. He has had much fun researching the history of the firm and the
people who have worked in it and says that a much clearer picture of how the
business worked has slowly appeared. He entitles his talk which will be
illustrated with slides, "Adams 150
years: How things have changed!"
