Jazz songstress, Thobeka Langa, and her band will feature in
The Playhouse Company’s next free Sundowners concert on December 11 from 17h00.
At only 27 years of age, Langa has already performed with
high-profile artists such as Lira, Judith Sephuma, Ronnie Jordan, MiCasa and
Ernie Smith. Having shown off her vocal talents at several large events around
the province, Langa is a graduate of the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre
for Jazz and Popular Music, where she received cum laude accolades for her
performance practical. This honour, coupled with her outstanding performance at
Unisa’s School of Music launch, earned Langa a scholarship to study for a
Master’s degree at the North Carolina Central University in the United States.
Also performing in the enormously popular poetry slot for
the evening will be poets Rodney Roskrudge, Phiwo Ndlela, Hlengiwe Mbatha and
Mpilwenhle “Umandulo” Sithole.
The Playhouse Company’s SUNDOWNERS series of concerts gives
eThekwini CBD workers an opportunity to start their weekend off in the
entertaining way with music, poetry and much more.
The Sundowners concert takes place on December 11 from 17h00
and entrance is free. Playhouse patrons receive discounted parking at the Royal
Hotel Parkade and at the Albany Grove Parkade. The Playhouse coffee shop offers
a variety of light meals and drinks, while the Playhouse bar is open for every
performance.
