(An example of Ardmore’s
work)
Visit the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands this Easter weekend and get
the chance to make your own Easter Bunny with the help of Ardmore Ceramic Art’s
internationally renowned sculptors and painters.
(NB: There is a R100
cost for making the ceramic Easter bunny)
Ardmore is inviting members of the public to visit their
base in the Caversham Valley on March 27 to see first-hand how the arts
collective creates works, which forms part of collections in the Museum of Arts
and Design and American Folk Art Museum and the Ford Foundation in New York,
the Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts in Florida, and the Museum der Kulturen in
Basel, Switzerland.
In South Africa, Ardmore pieces are on show at the Tatham
Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg, the Durban Art Gallery, the Carnegie Art
Gallery in Newcastle, the Johannesburg Art Gallery, the Standard Bank Gallery,
Johannesburg, and the South African National Gallery, Cape Town.
Visitors to Ardmore this weekend will also be able to view
the works of legendary artists, Bonnie Ntshalintshali and Wonderboy Nxumalo, in
the Ardmore Museum and Ardmore’s new range of functional art – the Halsted
range of fabrics which use Ardmore designs and gorgeous collectable handbags,
designed by Halsted’s daughter Megan. The bags are made from coloured leather
and Ardmore fabric designs.
Founder of the arts collective, Fee Halsted, and her family
will be on hand throughout the day to talk about the history of Ardmore and its
many new innovations over hotcross buns.
Ardmore is normally open to the public from 08h00 to 16h30,
Monday to Sunday, including public holidays. For more information phone
