DEFENDING THE PLANET FOR HEX

(Lisa Bobbert & Aaron McIlroy. Pic by Val Adamson)

MacBob Productions presents one of its greatest hit shows, Defending The Planet, starring Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert for a short run at the Hexagon Theatre in Pietermaritzburg. The show is written by Susan Monteregge and directed by Darren King.

Says multi-award-winning actress Lisa Bobbert: “Have you ever felt that you don't belong or that there's more to life than this? Are your dreams so weird that you are afraid people will judge you? You may not realize it but you have been manipulated by powers beyond your control. Yes, you have had an alien abduction experience! The time has come to step out of the dark and defend our planet. If you miss this show it could be the end of the world as we know it!”

So stand by for the super-charged comedy duo Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert, the team that brought you The Seven Deadly Sins (and a host of other hot-property shows) in a return of their smash hit take on alien abductions. The multi-award-winning Defending the Planet returns, now extensively updated and radically revised, but just as whacky as ever. If you missed them in this runaway hit previously (or even if you didn’t), be sure to catch the zaniest husband-and-wife couple in town in “one of the funniest productions seen in ages” (The Daily News).

The story focuses on a self-help group of victims of alien abductions, formed to examine these and other close encounters of various kinds. Typical of the McIlroys’ unique comedic style, Defending The Planet discusses the trauma of victims who have been “probed” by aliens. With off-the-wall characters and an eclectic range of foot-stomping music, suggestions are made as to how one can deal with an “invasion” and how to avoid falling victim to these outlandish creatures. The show is a must-see for anyone who has ever wondered about extra-terrestrial activity and above all, assures audiences of an entertaining evening of music and laughter.

Defending The Planet runs from March 31 to April 2 with performance at 19h30 at the Hexagon Theatre on the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg campus. Tickets R130 (R100 for seniors & students) booked through Computicket. For more information contact 033 260 5537.
