The KZN Youth
Orchestra consists of the cream of the crop of young musicians from all around
KZN province. The KZNYO will perform their first concert for the year at
Crawford College North Coast on March 11.
The concert will be
varied and will start with the “Shadow” orchestra conducted by Cathy Peacock .
This is a feeder orchestra for the A orchestra. The A orchestra under the baton
of Lyk Temmingh will then perform such orchestral favourites such as March Slave by Tchaikovsky, Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah by Saint Saens, Brahms Hungarian dance no 5 and
some contemporary favourites such as Libertango
and New York, New York.
The A orchestra
performed at the National Arts festival in Grahamstown last year and are hoping
to perform at the Chamber festival in Stellenbosch in July this year. To end
off the concert, both orchestras will combine with some of the students from
Crawford College to perform several massed items.
The concert will
take place on March 11 from 18h00 to 19h00 in the hall at Crawford College
North Coast. Tickets R40 (R20 students/pensioners) will be available at the
door on the day from 18h30. Some tables will be set up so patrons are welcome
