PLAYHOUSE TEST-DRIVING THE ARTS



For up-and-coming performers, The Playhouse Company’s Test-Driving the Arts programme provides a platform for these artists, as well as entertainment for CBD workers just outside the Playhouse.

Taking place at lunchtime on the second Tuesday of the month, the current line-up is as follows:

April 12 (opening): Tswana Traditional Dance (Tswana dancers); Umlazi African Jinge (Umzansi); Amazing Grace (Gospel); Indlondlo Zulu Dancers (Indlamu); and Champions (Amapansula).

May 10: Amabhubesi Zulu Dancers (Indlamu); Hyena Blues (Blues music).

June 14: Amabhubesi (ingoma Yezintombi); Bana Ba Tsoseletso (Izintombi zabe Suthu); and Kwa-Mashu FB (Amapansula)

July 12: Amaviyo (Umshado); and Amagcokama (Ingoma Yezintombi).

August 16: Izintombizika-Vumile (maskandi); IthembaLamanono (Ingoma Yezintombi); and Asakhe (Isigekle).

September 13: Ofeleba (Ingoma Yezinsizwa); Ikusasa Elihle (Ingoma Yezintombi); and Igugulesizwe Entertainment (Umzansi).

October 11: Inkazimulo Gospel Singers (Gospel); Nyuswa Home Boys (Iscathamiya).

November 8: Island Crew Reggae Band (Reggae music); Is’thembisoSevangeli (Gospel).

December 6: Amabhekokuhle (Ushameni); IzindlalifaZezulu Gospel Group (Gospel); and Come Again Vocalists (Gospel).

December 13: AmashobaAmhlophe (Ingoma); B.O.T. (Gospel)p; 100% Dance Crew (Amapansula).

December 20 (finale!): Amadunah Entertainment (Iscathamiya); Ibutho performing Art (Umzansi); Sýa Ndlovu (Gospel); Abathandwa Musical Group (Gospel); and Ofezela (Ingoma yezinsizwa).
