THEATRE BENEVOLENT FUND SMS CAMPAIGN



Demonstrate your appreciation for those who have entertained you - both in the spotlight and behind the scenes - by donating to The Theatre Benevolent Fund TBF. Your contribution is the applause which could save a life.

The TBF is conducting an sms campaign during March where individuals can donate R20 by Sms TBF to 40770.

The TBF serves as the entire Arts and Entertainment Industry's only charitable organisation. It e TBF has been in existence for some 53 years and is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO number 930 000 322) with 18A tax certification.

All income is derived solely from voluntary and corporate donations, bequests and fundraising initiatives. Board members of the TBF are all volunteers, receiving no salaries whatsoever. The daily running of the TBF is operated from Board members' private homes utilising their personal technology. The TBF aim to keep their running costs as limited as possible, enabling them to utilise funds received directly to those in desperate need.

All professionals working in any or having worked in the Performing Arts at any stage are automatically aligned with this help fund. No membership fees apply.

These professions include every discipline and skill within the broader performing Arts sphere: administrative, publicity, marketing, production, technical, creative, all Arts media , all genres , all mediums .

The Theatre Benevolent Fund is non-aligned and non-political and mainly focuses on providing permanent financial assistance to professional Arts individuals who find themselves destitute due to old age and ill-health. These individuals have no-one else to care for them.

The TBF also provides financial assistance to those who find themselves in financial distress due to unforeseen high medical costs. This also includes their legal dependants. The TBF has often contributed to the payment of funerals for destitute colleagues.

All requests for assistance are carefully investigated and constantly monitored. The TBF's treasurer is a registered financial professional.
