Deadline: April 18, 2016
South African choreographers and dance companies – be part
of a collaboration with French company Carré Blanc Cie, and choreographer,
Michèle Dhallu, which aims to be presented at the Cradle of Creativity in 2017.
The project is called CHIFFONNADE – Transmission.
Performance is dedicated to ephemeral life: a show only
lives during tour time. A choreographer may not be a filmmaker, and yet… Some
creations would deserve to be performed as much as wished, just like a movie
can be broadcasted over the years and it keeps on finding an enthusiastic
public.
The idea to transmit Chiffonnade arises from that
reflection.
Created 10 years ago, performed more than 1,500 times, this
dance solo aimed at young audiences, from 6 months up to 4 years old, will be
passed onto a South African company for their future use.
The project is also an opportunity for South African
choreographers to learn more about the process of working for this very young
audience. It will involve four weeks rehearsals with the choreographer Michèle
Dhallu from April 10 to May 9, 2017. Thereafter, Michèle aims to run workshops
for professionals in creating work for very young children, looking at a range
of questions such as themes, self-censorship, storytelling, interpretation for
a very young audience, relating to the audience etc.
