The Playhouse
Company has announced that booking is open for the Company’s festive season
production of the world’s best-loved family music, The Sound of Music. Booking is at Computicket.
Directed by Ralph
Lawson, and featuring some of South Africa’s best-loved stars, The Sound of Music was inspired by the
lives of the von Trapp family, and tells the uplifting, feel-good story of
Maria, a fun-loving governess who changes the lives of the widowed Captain von
Trapp and his seven children by re-introducing them to music, culminating in
the family’s escape from the Nazis across the mountains from Austria.
Audiences can look
forward to all the songs from the musical that everyone loves so much, such as Edelweiss, My Favourite Things, Climb Ev’ry
Mountain, Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, Lonely Goatherd and the
title song, The Sound of Music.
This treasured
classic will be staged in the Playhouse Opera and will feature the KZN
Philharmonic Orchestra and the Playhouse Dance Residency.
