THE SHOE-HORN SONATA

The Mondays at Six programme at St Clements on April 4 will feature The Shoe-horn Sonata, a play-reading enacted by Jane Ross, Ida Gartrell and Pieter Scholtz.

John Misto’s play is about the little-known and sheer unbelievable acts of sadism and depravity committed against women in captivity by the Japanese during World War II. Fifty years after being interred in a prisoner of war camp, Bridie and Sheila have been requested to appear on a television show. Having had no contact since the war, the two women begin to unravel their shared memories.

“Please consider making a donation of no less than R50 p/p after the performance,” asks Pieter Scholtz. “Some of the performers are based in Eshowe and the donations will help to offset their expenses.

Table bookings through St Clements on 031 202 2511. St Clements is situated at 191 Musgrave Road. Mondays @ Six run between 18h00 and 19h00.

(The play-reading will also be presented at the Wall Room Cafe in Eshowe on April 2.)
