On Wednesday (May 25), the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music
will present the Jazz voice showcase by selected students of Debbie Mari and
Lihle Ngidi.
This show will feature the Jazz Voice faculty and students
of UKZN presenting jazz and afro-jazz standards including evergreen ballads
such as Misty, Nature Boy, Georgia
and I Fall In Love Too Easily, Latin
jazz songs including So Nice, Wave
and Little Sunflower. Swing songs
such as The Best is Yet To Come, The More
I See You and Nice work if You Can
Get It will be featured in the repertoire as well as Afro Jazz/pop songs
like Lira’s Feel Good and Ngiyazifela.
The participants for the evening include first, second and
third year students Ayanda Thango, Neliswa Msomi, Sinenhlanhla Mazibuko and
BPrac student Xolisa Dlamini. This concert will be the third in a series of
instrumental showcases planned over the course of the year. It will be followed
by Big band/brass showcase on June 1 and Drum Showcase on June 8.
The Jazz Voice Showcase takes place on May 25 at 18h00 at
The Centre for Jazz and Popular music (CJPM), Level 2, Shepstone Building at
UKZN Howard College Campus. Doors open at 17h30. General Admission R60 (R40
