The Steel Drum Competition, which forms part of the National
Creative ArtsYouth Festival, was held on May 4 at the Elizabeth Sneddon
Theatre. Schools from all over KZN participated in what is a joyous and exhilarating celebration of steel drum and marimba music.

3rd Dobri Paliev St Patricks Grade 4+6
High School
1st Elizabeth Sneddon Inanda
Grade 9
2nd Troubadour Hillcrest
Winning the artSMart Rising Star trophy for High School was
Anele Dlamini from Inanda Seminary with the Troubadour Rising Star trophy for Junior
School being won by Cathleen Hamann from Kokstad Junior
The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra Spirit Trophy was awarded to Warner
Beach.
This year’s judge was well-known choreographer and dancer,
David Gouldie, and artSMart Editor Caroline Smart presented the prizes.
