Closing off four
great weeks of music, the Rainbow Restaurant in Pinetown – in association with
Concerts SA - will present a quick return concert from The Brother Moves On, on
July 3.
The Brother Moves
On first performed at the Rainbow on a double bill with The Muffinz at the
Rainbow’s birthday bash in December 2015 and so impressed the organisers that
when they requested a performance before setting out on their first month-long
European tour, there was hesitation in saying yes.
“In advertising
last year’s concert, people who were not aware of the brother, would ask me to
describe their music,” says Rainbow co-owner Neil Comfort. “How do you describe
roots, experimental music, art, story telling, visual delight? I told our
patrons who asked these questions to come and see for themselves, take the
journey with us and TBMO.
“People came. Long-time
supporters, newbies, interested seekers of music. TMBO hit the stage and gave
us their unique, brilliantly crafted performance. They are the fantastic youth
of South Africa, they are the thinking, feeling, questioning, hopeful and bold
South Africa. They showed us their craft, with story telling through rhythmical
and experimental roots music and performed so well that it lifted us. I still
struggle with words to describe them as I don’t think what they do exists
anywhere else. They are creating new stuff, which fills me with excitement and
awe,” adds Comfort.
The Brother Moves
on appears on July 3 at 13h00. Tickets can be purchased at the Rainbow or at https://www.webtickets.co.za
