(Matt Damon)

MNet Movies Showcase on DStv Channel 107 will present the action thriller trilogy The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum on July 4, 5 and 6 at 20h00:

July 4: The Bourne Identity. Directed by Doug Liman in 2002, the movie features Matt Damon, Franka Potente and Chris Cooper. Fishermen rescue a badly wounded man. He recovers, but cannot even recall his own name. A surgically implanted microchip offers the first clue to his identity, but his effort to assemble the puzzle will be tougher than he thought: men in positions of power want him dead.

Matt Damon was initially regarded “too soft” for the role of Jason Bourne. Brad Pitt, Sylvester Stallone and Russell Crowe, who had proven track records in action thrillers, were unavailable. Damon stepped in and not only pulled it off brilliantly, but also performed his own stunts.
Rating: 13VL

July 5: The Bourne Supremacy. Directed by Paul Greengrass in 2004, the movie features Matt Damon, Franka Potente and Joan Allen. Jason Bourne was appalled to find evidence that he had been an assassin before losing his memory, but when a CIA-operation fails and he is unjustly blamed – and hunted – he has no option but to resume the life of a killer
Novelist Robert Ludlum, who created the story of Jason Bourne, died before he could see the hero he created in action on the silver screen. The books had all been million sellers, and the films matched their success. Rating: 13V

July 6: The Bourne Ultimatum. Directed by Paul Greengrass in 2007, the movie features Matt Damon, Joan Allen and Julia Stiles. In this three-time Oscar winner, the iconic Jason Bourne comes home in the riveting climax to the action trilogy about a man looking for the origins of his life as a trained killer. Rating:13V
