Baroque 2000 returns to the Church of the Monastery
Mariannhill tomorrow (August 28) to perform a programme of Italian music
featuring the flute and four solo violins. Guest artist Evelien Ballantine is
the soloist in Francesco Mancini's Sonata in D minor, and in Allesandro
Scarlatti's Sonata no 9 in A minor, both for flute and strings.
The other works are Vivaldi's Violin Concerto RV 234, L'Inquietudine, (Anxiety), soloist
Ralitza Macheva, Giuseppe Valentini's Concerto for four violins, and Francesco
Geminiani's Concerto Grosso op 3 no 1 in D.
The concert starts at 1130. Tickets R140 at the door and
the Monastery tea garden will be open before and after the concert. There is
