KAROU CHAROU BACK AT SIBAYA

(Karou Charou)

Formidable comedian, Karou Charou – well known for his hit productions Beauty and da Charou with Beauty Ramapelepele, Kama Sutra, and Hot & Spicy which have sold out at venues across the country – makes a welcome comeback at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom this weekend.

He hits the stage at the iZulu Theatre where he will perform three of his hit shows over three days; his outrageously funny adult comedy, Kama Sutra 1 at 20h00 on September 9, the hilarious instalment Kama Sutra 2 at 20h00 on September 10, and his family friendly show, Hot & Spicy at 15h00 on September 11.

“We are thrilled to confirm that Karou Charou is back on our stage to perform three of his most successful shows over three consecutive days. This means three entirely different scripts, different zany outfits, different props and different technical requirements. It is going to be a rip roaring weekend for comedy fans. Whether you have seen the shows before or not, this is a not-to-be-missed comedy feast with South Africa’s favourite Indian comedian,” says Belinda Jelf, Marketing Manager at Sibaya.

The highly charismatic Karou, with his trademark outfits, dark glasses, bling and refreshingly interactive comedic style, is one of the most commercially successful comedians in South Africa. His popularity was recognized by McDonalds which chose him as the face for its Hot & Spicy Burger campaign, which included adverts on national TV, Billboards across the country, cinema and social media ads.

Kama Sutra 1 premiered with a record seven consecutive sold-out shows at Sibaya, catapulting the then relatively unknown Karou to instant fame. It is a wickedly funny one-man show that provides no holds-barred insight into sex and sexuality in the Indian community. Using a clever combination of slide shows, quick wit, toilet humour and an assortment of “toys”, the “Turbaned One” debunks myths, challenges traditions and educates his audience. It is a 90-minute roller coaster of laughs.

Kama Sutra 2 was the much-anticipated sequel to Kama Sutra which broke attendance records at Sibaya before it sold out 25 shows across the country. Kama Sutra 2 sees Karou taking on the role of a sex coach in a bid to build healthier sexual relationships between couples. He dissects the effect 50 Shades of Grey has had on people, relates his own experiences on the various sexual positions, explores the erogenous zones in females and even introduces music and dance in the bedroom, amongst other interesting topics. The “Sex Toys” segment, which has proved a crowd pleaser, is back and Karou describes it as “some sort of a Tupperware party.”

The Hot and Spicy Family Show is suitable-for-all-ages and showcases the best of Karou over the last five years. In true Karou style, the audience will play a major role with many landing up on stage, becoming part of the show. He will have the audience in stitches as he offers his take on Indian weddings, attempts to explain why 95% of Indians can’t swim and reveals the real reason why Indians don’t play rugby. He will also offer his perspective on why it is not normal for human beings to get married. Then there is the crowd pleasing cowboy “Hoe down”, which will have fans rolling in the aisles. With so many young fans attending, Karou has a special segment dedicated to them.

Tickets from R80 to R120 booked through Computicket and at the Sibaya Box Office. Youngsters under 10 and senior citizens pay just R80 for the Hot & Spicy Family Show.
