Rhumbelow Theatre will present Dave
Monks and Marion Loudon for two performances at the Allan Wilson Shellhole in
Pietermaritzburg.
Sing Country is a
family show that takes you “out of the city and into the country “. So bring cowboy
hats, boots and buckles and let Dave Monks and Marion Loudon transport you to
the land of country music.
The duo entertains superbly in this well
put -together collection of nostalgic and popular country hits. The show
features covers from more than 20 different artists which include Dolly Pardon,
Johnny Cash, The Carpenters, Shania Twain, John Denver, Kenny Rodgers just to
name a few.
Loudon’s vocal range and versatility
never ceases to shine, particularly in songs like The Carpenters’ worldwide
smash hit Jambalaya and Dolly
Pardon’s evergreen- classic, Jolene.
Monks features with some great guitar work and vocals as he glides through songs
like Ring of Fire, The Gambler, John
Denver’s Country Roads and I’m Gonna be a Country Boy Again.
Loudon and Monks have performed all
over South Africa including Sun City, Swaziland, Johannesburg and at many
corporate events and festivals. They have also been the voices behind many
radio adverts and Loudon has been the harmonising vocalist on all of Dave Monks’
solo CDs.
The show consists of a wide variety of
great country songs plus some very well thought-out medleys which will surely
have audiences’ hands clapping and toes tapping.
Shows take place on
September 11 at 14h00 and 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for
picnic dinner. Tickets R140 (R120 pensioners and tables of eight or more). Take
along food picnic baskets. There is limited secure parking and booking is
essential. A cash bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the
premises). The Allan Wilson Shellhole is situated at 5
Durban Road in Pietermaritzburg.
