The next Arts Interactive Group get-together will take place
tomorrow (November 9) featuring Corné Eksteen as guest speaker.
Eksteen will be exploring the often antagonistic
relationship between technology and the visual arts. Historically the rise of
new technology has always had a significant impact on traditional artistic
modes of expression such as painting. These new technologies have often given
birth to new technical and stylistic approaches in the art making process
In our current culture where the focus is on process and
concept driven art, he will explore the opportunities and application of
information technology in painting.
Eksteen is a Durban based painter whose most recent solo
exhibition: Assimilation included an
"AV" / augmented view mobile app designed and built by the artist
himself.
Arts Interactive takes place on November 9 at 18h00 for
18h30 at the College Rovers Rugby Club, Kings Park Stadium, Jacko Jackson Drive
in Durban. Entrance R100 pp. RSVP soonest for catering purposes to npletts@telkomsa.net
