In association with Concerts SA, saxophonist and penny
whistle player Oscar Rachabane presents his national tour, where he will be
joined by some friends, who happen at the same time to be great, accomplished
musicians: guitarist Keenan Ahrends, and two German members of Seba Kaapstad –
Sebastian Schuster on bass and Thomas Worle on drums.
Rachabane is a quirky hipster from Soweto of great
distinction amongst his peers and fans alike. Part of a lineage of an
illustrious family of reedmen, he has carved a niche himself as a no holds
barred, soulful saxophonist. With an astounding jazz vocabulary and a mastery
of South African mbaqanga, his is a sound deeply entrenched in the musical
history of South Africa.
There will be two performances – December 2 and 3 at 23h00
at The Chairman, 146 Mahatma Gandhi Road in Durban. Tickets R150. More
