As part of the festive season, the Parish of St Paul’s
Durban will be hosting a Christmas Concert on December 18, featuring an interesting
mix of music guaranteed to create good cheer. The St Paul’s Choir, under the
directorship of organist and choirmaster Melvin Peters, will sing well-known
anthems composed by John Rutter and Dale Wood.
Songs that will be featured include renditions of Jesus
Child and Angels Carol, both of which were written by John Rutter. To help
celebrate the occasion in style, the St Paul’s Choir will be joined by
choristers from other local churches.
The second half of the concert will feature the Melvin
Peters Quartet playing jazz versions of select Christmas carols. Carols with a
jazz twist!! As an added bonus, they will be joined by popular vocalist Haylea
Hounsom Heyns who is currently appearing in Kickstart’s production of Sleeping Beauty at the Elizabeth Sneddon
Theatre.
