BASA ESTABLISHED EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Deadline: February 1, 2017

Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) opens a call to recruit 30 organisations for the BASA Established Education programme, supported by Rand Merchant Bank (RMB). The arts, culture and creative sector organisations based geographically in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban are required to be registered or in operation for at least three years to be eligible for the programme.

“Our BASA Established Education programme aims to help elevate practising arts, culture and creative organisations with renewed vision and strategic business thinking,” explains Kim Sanssoucie, Programme Manager for BASA’s Creative Management. “The programme is based around the model of Asset Based Organisational thinking and practical insights from arts and creative leaders in all three cities.”

The BASA Established Education programme, supported by RMB, is an intensive transformative learning programme comprising several different workshops. Some of the workshops are Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) – which talks to creative and organisational community development to Creative Market Growth action plans and strategies to structuring your creative organisation financially and operationally for sustainable outputs. Workshops are facilitated by specialist business professionals in the field being explored.

The highlight of the workshops is the inclusion of arts, culture and creative facilitators drawn from South Africa’s extensive arts and creative sectors. These arts, culture and creative facilitators will offer their invaluable insights and expertise to workshop participants complimenting the business skill transfer.

The BASA Established Education programme, supported by RMB, is part of a broader BASA Education initiative which aims to address the strategic thrust of development and support of the arts, culture and creative sectors by driving connectivity and sustainability through research as well as skills transfer.

The first cycle of workshops will begin in March – May 2017. Please note only candidates from Cape Town and Johannesburg need apply, as Durban workshops have been completed for this cycle. Applications for Cycle 2 will begin later in the year so please keep a look out on the BASA website for those dates.

To apply as a delegate on the programme, go to www.basa.co.za and download the application form. Closing date is February 1, 2017. For more details, contact Kim Sanssoucie directly on 011 447 2295/89 or kim@basa.co.za
