(Neil Green)
The first edition of #Durbs
Comedy Night for 2017, taking place on February 3 and 4 at the Garden Court
Hotel, is all set to get audiences laughing into the new year with a line-up
featuring Durban's finest comedians.
Andrew Hughes has just returned from performances at Parkers
Comedy Club, the home of stand-up comedy in South Africa, and Joburg's hottest
buzzword on the comedy club front - Goliath Comedy Club - and he's ready to
bring home the laughs.
The ever popular Carvin Goldstone is back from an 11-city
National Comedy Tour and performances of his ever popular one man show, Coloured President, on the MSC Sinfonia.
This edition of #Durbs
Comedy Night will also feature Tyson Heffer, Neil Green, Kelvin Stoffels
and Daryl Williams who will each bring their unique comedic charm to stage.
Neil Green easily stands out as one of Durban’s most popular
comedy acts. His sharp wit, commanding stage presence, and hilariously honest
brand of comedy have won him fans throughout Durban and beyond. Green’s comedy
ethos is one of introspective authenticity. A strong proponent of the right to
free speech, Green is sometimes described as edgy or even controversial. That’s
not usually his aim, it’s just a side effect of calling it straight.
Kelvin Stoffels has been steadily building an audience and
making a name for himself in South African comedy with his calm, fresh comedy
style. He is considered one of the funniest comedians on the Durban comedy
scene and definitely one of the most exciting talents the city has to offer. He
has done extensive work touring KZN.
Daryl Williams brings his prolific style of comedy to stage.
Having only just entered the Durban comedy scene over recent months, he's
already in demand and has performed on over 50 stages - having performed with
local and international comedians such as Kagiso Lediga, Marc Lottering, Mark
Banks and Donovan Goliath, to name a few!
Do you know that feeling when someone tells you a joke and
it takes you a few seconds to get it? Tyson Heffer has been telling jokes like
that since the beginning of his career as a comedian. Known for his one-liner
observational style of comedy, his punchline after punchline delivery will have
you vacillating between wanting to laugh and wanting to hear what comes next.
He has gained experience by performing alongside some of the best acts South
Africa has to offer, and has stamped his mark on the flourishing Durban comedy
scene. Keep an eye out for this guy!
