(Two
of the character costumes still available!)
It is
with a great sense of sadness that Troubadour Costume Hire is having to close
after 30 years in the theatre and entertainment industry.
The
untimely passing of Troubadour’s founder, Peter Gardner, in May last year
marked the end of an era. Efforts have been made to keep Peter’s legacy going
over the last few months, but without his expertise and mechanical knowledge as
regards cartoon character creation, it has proved impossible.
The
building has to be vacated by the end of March, and the only way to move
everything out is by means of an “EVERYTHING MUST GO” clearance sale at
rock-bottom prices.
There
are over 5,000 costumes and outfits up for sale as well as most of the office
furniture. On offer also are the tools of the trade – sewing machines, fabric,
props, sound equipment and much more – far too many items to mention
individually.
For
anyone who knows how to work with fibre glass and interested in starting their
own costume hiring/costume making business, there are a number of fibre glass
moulds for heads of character costumes. This collection represents a highly
valuable start-up commodity.
There is
also all the racking which carry the costumes. For more information on the
moulds and racking, contact Barry at Troubadour on 031 209 2817.
Come and
browse through Troubadour, and take away a piece or two of Durban history.
You’ll be amazed at the range of items available.
