/’Fri:Dem/! (pronounced “freedom” is devised by the Playhouse Actors Studio. It
is a retrospective look at what our freedom means to us today.
Using classical South African theatre
works, images and sound, the play seeks to find the meaning of what we have
achieved as a country: what challenges we have faced and how we deal, with
them?
The text selected celebrates the contributions
of writers, photographers, actors and musicians to the South African struggle
and their continued voices.
/’Fri:Dem/! Is researched and curated by Matjamela Motloung, with directing
mentorship by theatre stalwart Ralph Lawson.
/’Fri:Dem/!
forms part of the Playhouse Company’s New Stages project
and runs in the Playhouse Loft from May
25 to 28 at 14h00 and 19h00. Tickets R60 booked at Computicket.
