“It is
with a sense of profound shock and sadness that POST has learnt of the death of
talented writer, journalist and columnist Colin Roopnarain.
Colin,
34, passed away on Thursday, 22 June, after a short illness
The
versatile writer had worked for several publications, including the Sunday
Tribune and The Mercury.
His POST
column, The Fence, was extremely
popular, providing a unique and witty take on all aspects of life.
His
intricate web of words impressed many readers.
Colin's
passion was entertainment and creative writing, having interviewed, over the
past decade, numerous celebrities and promoting the local arts scene.
POST
Editor, Krisendra Bisetty, said that while Colin had been at the paper for a
short time, he had made a valuable contribution and would be sorely missed.
"He
had a rare talent to both engage and entertain readers at the same time. Colin
was also always willing to take on new challenges, not letting anything get in
the way."

The funeral service will take place today,
Saturday (June 24) at 10h00, from his home, 20 Nightingale Drive, Peacevale,
Dundee, thereafter proceeding to the Peacevale Baptist Church, in Robin Road
and Starling Road, Peacevale, Dundee, at 11h00.
A memorial service will take place on June
29 from 11h00 to 12h00 in the Embizweni Room, Independent Newspaper House, 18
Osborne Street, Greyville, Durban.
