(Rusty
Red)
Durban ‘Bluesman’ Rusty Red will headline
at the Rhumbelow this August with his sell-out offering Crossroads, a Tribute to Eric Clapton & Friends.
The show premiered at Rhumbelow Tina’s in Kloof
in May. Accompanied by his countrymen, Chris Melling on drums and lefty Skippy
Kubheka on bass guitar, the trio will meet audiences at the Crossroads and take
them on a journey through a soundtrack driven by blues icons: Eric Clapton,
John Mayer, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and more.
The show will highlight Eric Clapton’s
greatest hits from his early days in Cream, The Yardbirds and as a solo artist,
a career that has spanned more than four decades and has earned him a triple
induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Eric Clapton drew inspiration from BB King,
Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters among other Blues legends, and in turn Clapton
inspired modern Blues musicians, including John Mayer. His influence and
collaborations have earned him 18 Grammy Awards, of which our own Blues
craftsmen will showcase favourites in this stellar performance.
This not to be missed show will include the
latest and greatest hits including Before
you accuse me, Lay down Sally, Crossroads, Change The World, Pride and Joy, Little Wing, Wonderful tonight, Slow
Dancing in a burning room and many more.
Presented by Rhumbelow Theatre, Umbilo, and
Black Lapel Productions, Crossroads, a
Tribute to Eric Clapton & Friends runs from August 4 to 6 with
performances on Friday and Saturday at 20h00 and Sunday at 14h00 and 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before
