Join the
Imbizo Gallery in Umhlanga on September 8, 2017, as it celebrates African Art
and Culture.
Imbizo
Gallery has partnered with the Global Shapers Community Durban Hub to host and
showcase the best of South African art to the rest of Africa. The Event will be
live-streamed to an eager audience across the continent.
This
showcase is the inaugural launch of the Open Africa Initiative, a journey that
will take place between 30 African cities seeking for greater African economic
and cultural integration.
The
journey also features the collection and documenting of local cultural
ornaments and objects into Imbizo’s digital cultural archive, USizwe. The aim
is to promote the African artisan and SME as well as produce a unique digital
archive that is symbolic of a diverse but integrated continent. Imbizo Gallery
is the main partner and will curate its Digital Cultural Archive for the
continent.
The
event takes place on September 8, 2017, at 18h00 for 18h30 at the Imbizo
Gallery, Entrance 2, Shop 25&26, The Pearls Mall, Lagoon Drive in Umhlanga.
