Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane performs in
Ballito as part of Rotha Album Tour
Pianist and composer Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane
released his second album Rotha – A
Tribute to Mama at the end of August and is now ready to present it during
an album launch tour. He will appear in Ballito on September 8.
Rotha is inherently a tribute to Mashiloane’s cherished and influential
figures, experiences and memories, but most importantly a tribute to his mother
Rotha who passed in 2016, while he was in studio to record Rotha. Rotha is an
acoustic traditional jazz album that radiates South African heritage sounds and
universal jazz influences. He describes this album as mostly sharing Coltrane’s
harmonic movements with African influences within the melody and most notably
references to South African tribal and spiritual sounds.
He will bring a band of young and talented
musicians to the venue, consisting of Keorapetse Kolwane on vocals, Thabo
Sikhakhane on trumpet, Freeman Gumede on bass guitar and Stanley Matlou on
drums.
The performance will take place on September
8 at 19h00 at the Sound Café, Warne House, 5 Garlicke Drive in Ballito. General
entrance R50 (R200 VIP) – bookings through email info@soundcafe.co.za for online
