KICKSTART YOUTH THEATRE



Durban Actors Studio, in association with KickstArt, has officially launched the Kickstart Youth Theatre training programme.

KYT is a production-based youth theatre company. Its joint mission is to provide to top training, contact with professionals, and active involvement in the professional theatrical creation process. Students of KYT will experience enormous growth through acting, musical training, speech, creative movement, dance and involvement in the arts. KYT members are treated in a professional manner and are held to high standards all while experiencing the joy and creative fulfillment that stimulates artistic excellence and personal growth.

KYT members will…
           receive ensemble triple threat training (acting, singing and dancing)
           watch professional studio rehearsals and theatre dress rehearsals for upcoming KickstArt productions
           perform annually in the internationally recognised LAMDA Performance Examinations
           watch live productions and write/blog about the experience, the creation of the first SA Online Youth Theatre Community
           meet and interview professionals from the theatre community to find out more about the industry
           work on the same productions, plays and musicals, the professionals are performing
           receive discounts on all Durban Actors Studio Youth masterclasses and holiday workshops
           receive discounts on all Durban Actors Studio LAMDA solo training programmes
           receive upfront notice about stage and screen audition opportunities

The Important Stuff!
           You must audition to join this group
           Any young (9-14 yrs and 15-21yrs) actor, singer and/or dancer can audition
           Training and organised outings are compulsory for members of this group.
           Students and parents commit upfront to the financial and time obligations of this programme for a year, 4 terms.
           Students will perform in the annual LAMDA Group Acting and Musical Theatre examinations.
           Students will perform work developed over the course of each term, either formal or informal presentations.
