Molemo
Moiloa, director of the Visual Arts Network of South Africa (VANSA), has announced
that she will be stepping down as director. She will step down at the end of
May 2018 to pursue other avenues after four and a half years at the helm of
VANSA.
Bandile
Gumbi, chairperson of the Board of Directors at VANSA said: “Molemo has been a
dedicated and visionary leader of the organisation, and as the Board of VANSA
we have heavily relied on her skills and intuition. We wish her the very best
in her career.”
Under
Molemo Moiloa’s direction, VANSA has established itself as a leading network in
the country, increasing its membership by approximately 3,000 people over the
past years. The organisation's structure, governance and financial positioning
has strengthened, ensuring that the organisation has a strong foundation for
its next phase. Moiloa’s leadership has enabled the organisation to connect to
a much wider spectrum of the arts community, and she has been instrumental in
building VANSA’s impact both locally and internationally.
“VANSA
plays a pivotal and unique role in the South African visual arts landscape,
ensuring a better environment for arts practitioners in policy, markets and
professional development. VANSA brings together an extraordinarily wide
community of people who are all committed to seeing the sector grow. I feel
very honoured to have been given the opportunity to play my part in the work of
VANSA and be part of its incredible team. I know that its work remains deeply
relevant, and the coming years will bring exciting programming and important
impacts. I am confident that VANSA will continue to go from strength to
strength,” comments Moiloa.
The
board of VANSA, supported by Molemo Moiloa, will drive the recruitment of a new
director over the next few months. For more information regarding the vacancy, visit
