Last year, the Durban Chamber Choir
performed the stunning Monteverdi Mass for four voices as a concert piece at
Emmanuel Cathedral.
They will be singing the piece liturgically
within the usual 17h30 Mass on April 14 at Emmanuel Cathedral. This is a unique
opportunity to hear music written almost 400 years ago used in its original
context. The presider is Cardinal Napier and the idea of singing the Mass was
suggested as a way to honour him.
The service is open to all with safe
parking behind the Cathedral. A collection will be taken for the Napier Centre
for Healing, the Cardinal's legacy project as a rehabilitation centre for
street-living drug-users.
