ILLUSTRATED TALK BY CHRIS DALZELL

The Botanical Society of South Africa KZN Coastal Branch presents an illustrated talk by Chris Dalzell titled Gardens of England and the Chelsea Flower Show.

Some of the most beautiful gardens in England have inspired the world to look at gardening in a special way. This has been reinvented time and again to produce form, colour and romance.

Visit 10 gardens throughout England and finish off with the “Olympics of Gardening”, the Chelsea Flower Show.

Dalzell has for decades been a household name in Durban due to his position as Curator of Durban Botanic Gardens from 1990 to 2010. A career that has spanned 30 years in the Botanic Gardens world has taken him to over 62 countries where he has lectured, fundraised and plant-sourced allowing Durban Botanic Gardens to grow as a world-class Botanic Gardens under his Curatorship. He has worked and studied in some of the most famous garden in the world including Longwood Gardens in the USA and part of the team that built the new $1 Billion Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.

Today Dalzell runs a very successful Landscape consulting business that includes Landscaping, consulting, plant broking, Botanical tours, lecturing and writing.

The talk takes place on April 30, 2018, at 17h45 for 18h00 at the Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre. General entrance R65 (R50 for BotSoc members, R35 for non-members) includes refreshments and snacks afterwards. Proceeds to Botanical Education Trust.
