Durban Actors Studio hosts the first ever
Action Acting Masterclass - for actors who want to learn the skills to perform
film combat choreography.
This is the first Masterclass of its kind
ever to take place in KwaZulu-Natal. This is a class specifically designed to
teach actors the skills used in combat and weapons choreography, facilitated by
expert combat coach, Salim Badat.
At this level 1 masterclass, actors will be
introduced to the Blitz fighting system, which was created specifically for
movie fight choreography. This constantly evolving system is spectacular enough
to grab an audience’s attention, and vicious and practical enough to be
believable.
The facilitator, Salim Badat is a Jeet Kune
Do, Ving Tsun, FMA, HB- Bladetech, and Filipino Boxing (Panuntukan) coach. He
has over 15 years of experience built with personal discipline, professional
ethics and coaching mastery under world renowned leadership.
Salim is the only second-generation student
of Bruce lee's Jeet Kune Do in South Africa under the late Richard Bustillo. He
is most honoured in training privately in Jeet Kune Do with Bruce Lee's
original student Master Richard Bustillo of the IMB Academy. He is one of the
pioneers of teaching Wing Chun, Filipino Martial Arts and Silat in South
Africa.
Most recently, Salim choreographed the
fight scenes for Dayakar Padayachee’s upcoming feature film, Saloon. Now Salim will be sharing his
expertise with the Durban film community.
Actors need the skills to convincingly
deliver scenes that require combat or weapons handling. This Masterclass is
perfect for actors who want to learn the correct form to execute fight scenes
with maximum effect, ensure safety in their scenes and stand out from the crowd
in auditions and meeting with directors.
The Action Acting Masterclass will take
place at The Playhouse Mayville rehearsal rooms on September 29 and 30 2018, from
14h00 to 17h00.

- SAGA Members and Students (valid student
card): R2,000.00
- Current (2018) Durban Actors Studio
students: R1,700.00
This Masterclass is open to actors aged 18
and up.
Payment is due upon registration, in order
