The next Mondays At Six At St Clements
programme takes place on July 2 and will feature a reading of The Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter.
In all of Pinter’s plays, seemingly ordinary
events become charged with profound, if elusive, meaning, haunting pathos, and
hilarious comedy. In The Dumb Waiter,
a pair of gunmen wait for the kill in a decayed lodging- house, with a Dumb
Waiter. Pinter gradually exposes the inner strains and fears of the men,
alternating hilarity and terror to create an almost unbearable edge of tension.
The role of Ben is played by Roger Knowles
with Pieter Scholtz taking the role of Gus.
St Clements is situated at 191 Musgrave
Road. Mondays @ Six run between 18h00 and 19h00. Table bookings are essential
on 031 202 2511. There is no cover charge but there is a donations box to
support presenters.
