(The
Amy Winehouse project)
The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will
present the Amy Winehouse Tribute on July
31 2018 paying tribute to a true musical prodigy, quirky, fun, raw and flawless
singer/songwriter/artist, Amy Winehouse.
The five-time Grammy award-winning singer
and songwriter began in poetry and later became one of the greatest musician of
her generation. At age 19, she recorded her debut Frank. Being a rebellious someone, she sparked many enthusiasts in
her journey which ultimately led to her end. She still remains in the great
hall of fame.
Amy Winehouse and friends is a show that
will display how she had influences over different artists such as Adele,
Colbly Calait, Meghan Trainor and many more.
The band comprises vocalist Kerry
Cherry, with pianist David Langley, bassist Logan Byrne, and drummer Devon Hore
with the Heather Groove brass section, George Mari on trumpet and Avikar Maney
on alto sax. They will perform some favourite feel-good songs and give audiences
a moment of memory of a fallen musical genius doll.
The Amy
Winehouse Tribute takes place on July 31 at 18h00 (doors open at 17h30) at
The Centre for Jazz and Popular music (CJPM), Level 2, Shepstone Building at
UKZN Howard College Campus.
