KZN PHILHARMONIC TO HONOUR SIMON MILLIKEN

“The KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra is shocked and devastated by the killing of Mr Simon Milliken, a former Principal Double Bass Player of the Orchestra for about 30 years. Mr Milliken was a very good musician who was very passionate about developing young musicians and spent hours teaching them and harnessing their talent,” says Reena Makan, Marketing Manager of the KZNPO.

“Even though he had recently retired from the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, he continued to play with us on an ad-hoc basis and his sudden passing away, leaves a void in the musical life of our beautiful city of Durban,” she adds.

The Orchestra will honour the life of Mr Milliken at the Symphony Concert on Thursday (September 6) at the Durban City Hall at 19h30 and a memorial service will be held later in the week.
