Actor, writer and director Menzi Mkhwane
will be conducting more auditions as he intends to be directing more
frequently.
This weekend (September 8 and 9), he will
be auditioning females with male auditions taking place at the month end.
“This is for another great script by Aphiwe
Namba the Writing Machine. His play is called Us Against Them set in the 80s in exile. Played by four male actors.
So Durban guys, gear up for that!” says Mkhwane.
“But for now I am posting up the first of a
series of six Master classes I am offering over the next couple of weeks
leading to the end of the year. This is to provide Durban actors with skills.
Real acting tools to strength your approach to your voice work, rehearsal
process, dissecting scenes and all other things useful for a young working
actor. These master classes will be provided regularly. Next year they will
also fill up the calendar. If you require any of the things I have mentions
above. You are more than welcome to attend,” he adds.
The Master Class will take place this
Sunday (September 9, 2018) from 10h00 to 13h00 at the BAT Centre.
The three-hour session includes:
- vocal warm-ups and how to prepare your
voice.
- how to work with a director in a
rehearsal space.
- processes of preparing for a character.
- how to address scenes, characterisation
and subtest.
