(DJ Sonic
filming at Sibaya)
Sibaya provided the vibrant backdrop for
the filming of DJ Sonic’s new music video due for release at the end of
November 2018. The shooting of Sonic’s Phakamani
music video, which is expected to feature on continental music channels such as
Channel O, MTV, Trace Africa and the SABC, was a massive success and is expected
to rock the youth this summer.
Featuring high profile artists such as DJ
Sox (Durban’s finest), Emza (musician), Zuluboy (actor/musician), Siyabonga
Nomvethe (soccer star) and Melusi Yeni (actor), the video is the visualization
of the popular track currently being played on Gagasi FM, Metro FM and Ukhozi
FM to name a few.
“A proud supporter of local music talent,
we were excited to have DJ Sonic shoot his new music video at Sibaya. The song,
our location, everything; it is a great fit,” says Janet Pillay, PR and
Promotions Manager at Sibaya.
DJ Sonic, who originates from Ntuzuma
Township, north of Durban, is on his way to the top of the entertainment
industry. Featured on several radio stations, his music is becoming widespread
and widely-loved as it hits the airwaves both locally and nationally.
Sonic says that he has had a passion for
the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry for as long as he can
remember. The past few years have seen him involved with Durban Youth Radio,
Inanda FM, Vibe FM and has seen himself secure a great slot on the youthful
Gagasi FM. He has also taken a liking to being a club DJ and has established
himself as one of the key players in KZN’s club scene.
Requests from Sonic’s thousands of social
media fans flooded in, asking that he record a music video. At the brink of releasing his new track, Phakamani, Sonic decided to approach
Sibaya and ask to use their premises to shoot an accompanying music video for
the track, specifically their Privé and Casino drop-off zone.
To hear more from DJ Sonic, tune into his
slots on Gagasi FM where he hosts the Late Night Obsession and weekend Nayi Le

Mojo’s Car Wash & Shisanyama.
