(Flip
Kormuth)
The next Mondays at Six at St Clements
programme takes place on May 6, 2019, and will feature Flip Kormuth.
Kormuth was born in Prague in 1981 to a
Slovak family. Having grown up in South Africa, he feels South Africa to be his
home. He has been active as a concert pianist both in South Africa and abroad,
with over a hundred performances, also performing some of his own works.
As a composer, his music is deeply rooted
in tonal idioms ranging from medieval and folklore modes, to classical and
modern tonalities. His style of composition borders between Romantic and
Expressionistic but his philosophical approach to his art is firmly rooted in
East European Expressionism.
Kormuth’s compositional output is truly
extensive and encompasses solo, chamber, orchestral and vocal music.
St Clements is situated at 191 Musgrave
Road. Mondays @ Six run between 18h00 and 19h00. Table bookings are essential
on 031 202 2511. There is no cover charge but there is a donations box to
support presenters.
