The Maswitsi Band will perform at The Jazzy
Rainbow on Friday, May 10, 2019.
This performance by the Maswitsi Band at The
Jazzy Rainbow is part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit which aims to foster a
love and support for live music in communities, as well as anchor small and
medium sized venues in urban and rural Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western
Cape.
Maswitsi (Sesotho for sweets) is a quintet
project created by Stanley Matlou and Kgethi Nkotsi. Maswitsi will present
music composed by Kgethi and arranged by both artists for the very first time
during this concert.
Kgethi Nkotsi is a versatile trombonist
from Tembisa who also worked with the Gospel artist Takie Ndou on his latest
project called Hope Arise. Tebogo Stanley Matlou learned how to play the drums
at the Moses Molelekwa Arts Foundation where he was taught by Jerry ‘’Bra
Monk’’ Molelekwa himself. The talented line-up features Kgethi Nkotsi (trombone),
Leon Scharnick (alto saxophone), Obakeng Thamage (piano), Freeman Gumede (electric
bass) and Stanley Matlou (drums).
The performance will take place on May 10
at 19h00. Entrance R50, including a free drink for students (T&C). The
