M-Net HD [101] on Sunday June 9, 2019, at 19h00 and again on M-Net Plus 1 [901]
at 20h00 will be a production featuring “Shakespeare in Hillbrow”
In a small dusty basement under the
Hillbrow Theatre and with little more than the clothes they own, men who were
all once homeless and destitute gather to recite the words of one of England’s
most famous playwrights – William Shakespeare.
This is the brainchild of celebrated South
African actress Dorothy Anne Gould who Durban audiences will remember for her heater
work when she lived in the city. Johannesburg
Awakening Minds has been giving the men a new home in the world of the
performing arts, allowing theatre to transform their lives.
The producer is Diana Lucas and the presenter
is Claire Mawisa.
