The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will
present Simthandile Mtolo on August 7, 2019.
Simthandile holds over a decade of
experience in the live entertainment industry as a professional performer and
live entertainment specialist. She comes from a family that loves music. Some
of Simtha’s influences include Simphiwe Dana, Esperanza Spalding, Erica Badu as
well as Whitney Housten, Jill Scott, Gregory Porter, Maleh, Lalah Hathaway, and
Siphokazi.
In 2015 Simtha was awarded the 1st prize
for East Coast Radio’s Be The Band Competition which she won a R50 000 music
hamper for, as well as the chance to perfom at The BP Durban Day where she
shared a stage with Prime Circle, Thandiswa Mazwai and Mafikizolo, to name but
a couple.
Join Simthandile Mtolo with Lindo Swing on
keys, Talent Mbatha on bass and Lunga Myeni on drums on August 7 at 18h00
(doors open at 17h30) at The Centre for Jazz and Popular music (CJPM), Level 2,
Shepstone Building at UKZN Howard College Campus. General admission R80 (R50
pensioners, R25 students).
