KZN Philharmonic Orchestra viola player Annamaria D’Andrea, gets in touch with her Day of the Dead alter-ego ahead of this Thursday’s 2019 Early Spring Season concert (August 29) in the Durban City Hall during which Saint-Saëns’s unforgettable La Danse Macabre will be performed – an allegory on the universality of death.

The evening’s soloist is 21-year-old Russian virtuoso Daniel Kharitonov playing Frantz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No 1. Brahms’s deeply rewarding Symphony No 2 brings the evening to a rousing close – all under the baton of guest conductor Bernhard Gueller.

The KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2019 Early Spring Season runs each Thursday until September 12, 2019, in the Durban City Hall starting at 19h30. Booking at Computicket.
