Baroque 2000 will stage its 6th Series
concert on November 3, 2019, at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery.
The theme of this performance is Baroque2000 and Beer. Sandile Mabaso,
former tenor singer with the Drakensberg Boys Choir, will perform some famous
and light-hearted drinking songs and catches by Henri Purcell as well as Love sounds the alarm, an aria extracted
from Handel’s opera Acis and Galatea.
The ensemble will perform Telemann’s Story of Gulliver composed for 2 violins
as well as Biber’s sonata for Scordatura and Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op6 No1
in G major. This exciting programme will undoubtedly thrill the audience who
will be further rewarded with a complimentary pint of beer at the end of the
performance!
The concert takes place at 15h00 on November
3. Tickets R150 at the door. There is ample, free and safe parking and the Tea
