Friends of Music will host a concert titled
Romantic Antics on November 12, 2019,
featuring Nina WATSON (piano) with members of the Quattro Femmes String Quartet.
The quartet includes Petya Koleva (violin); Jane Baillie (violin); Annamaria
D’Andrea (viola) and Marguerite Spies (cello).
Nina Watson is an experienced cellist and
pianist with an established and accomplished history in the music industry. She
was a tutti cellist for many years for the KZN Philharmonic and is currently
the HOD for music at Crawford College North Coast.

Petya Koleva was born in Bulgaria.
She is a
popular music teacher and entertainer on the violin and has been the Principal
(Leader) for the 2nd violins at the KZNPO for the past 29 years.

Baillie)
Jane Baillie is a dynamic performer with a
Masters’ Degree in Music from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
She has also toured on the
Barnyard circuit and is part of the popular duo Veranda Panda.

Annamaria D’Andrea was born in Rome where
she began her music studies. She also studied in Switzerland and Germany. Since
2006 she has been a permanent member of the KZNPO

Spies)
Marguerite Spies hails from Stellenbosch.
She studied at UTC and graduated with a music degree. She joined the KZNPO as
Tutti Cello in 2009.
The programme includes Antonin Dvořák’s Sonatina
for Piano and Violin in G Major Op 100, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque
No. 1 in G minor and Robert Schumann’s Quintet in E Flat Major Op 44
The concert takes place at 19h30 on
November 12 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road. Tickets
R120 (R100 FOM members) available at the door.
