(Miriam
Erasmus)
At the Rhumbelow Theatre Durban, our best
friend Suzy is travelling around the world in the latest puppet pantomime to
see what children in other countries celebrate.
Globe
Trotting Suzy is a fun puppet pantomime with Aunty
Mim Erasmus. Suzy is celebrating Christmas in Durban, South Africa, and she
asks Daddy if all the children in the world are celebrating Christmas.
Daddy explains that different cultures have
different days to celebrate, and, to make it easier, calls his friends at NASA
to send Suzy a spaceship so she can whizz around the world to find out.
In North America she learns about Totem
Poles and Wigwams from Blue Cloud. In South America, she joins in with Rozanna
at the Mardi Gras. Off to China and Su-Li tells her about their New Year with
its weaving Dragon. Not forgetting Sheila in Australia with the kangaroos, and
cousin Maggie in Scotland singing Auld
Lang Syne.
All together, the show visits nine different
countries to learn about their cultures, make new friends, and exchange gifts. Suzy
decides that everyone in the world is her friend, and you can join in with her
special song:
“Look at you, and look at me.
We’re as different as can be.
But, we both have loving hearts,
And now we’re friends.”
“We may even meet a very special Gentleman
in the North!!!” says Aunty Mim.
Fun songs, as always, and plenty to be
entertained by from “Auntie Mim” and John Erasmus. Shows run from December 9 to
21 at 11h00 from Mondays to Saturdays (no show on December 16)
The perfect holiday delight for children of
all ages, 4 to 400!! Show running time is just under an hour and there will be some
fun colouring in afterwards for the kids and a colouring in competition. Snacks
and juices will be on sale.
