Lifetime has announced that the channel, on
DStv 131, is now also available to DStv compact subscribers. Lifetime will
continue to bring viewers all the reality drama and made-for-TV movies they’ve
come to love but will now also showcase gripping crime content, including a new
local documentary.
Lifetime® is a female-focused premium
entertainment channel dedicated to offering the highest quality original
programming. The channel, available on DStv 131, brings viewers edgy reality,
made for TV movies and breakout relationship/wedding shows. Lifetime reaches

The once-off documentary Loved Like Crazy (December
9 at 21h00) casts a new lens on relationships that became headlines. Oscar
Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp. Sandile Mantsoe and Karabo Mokoena. Mampintsha
and Babes Wodumo. Frederik Bossert and Annelise Kriek. Loved Like Crazy takes the
audience through the dangerous ties of toxic love that trap women in a cycle of
abuse. A woman who knows this cycle well is journalist and author Iman
Rappetti, who guides us through each stage of the cycle of abuse with empathy
and insight.
Other upcoming crime drama on Lifetime this
month includes season two of South
African Crime Stories (weekdays at 18h25) which investigates some
of the country’s most notorious crimes. Then Homicide
Hours to Kill (weekdays at 17h35) shows that the key to solving the
toughest homicides lies somewhere within the final 24 hours of the victim’s
life. While Poisonous
Liaisons (weekdays at 21h55) uncovers that poison has long been a
weapon of choice. In Mysteries
& Scandals (weekdays at 22h45) Multiple Emmy® and Peabody Award
winner Soledad O’Brien executive produces and hosts this true-crime series that
takes a deep dive into Hollywood’s most baffling mysteries and notorious
scandals.

series
This month several brand-new reality shows
also premier; including Cheerleader
Generation (November 21 at 20h05), Ms T’s Music Factory (November 21 at 21h00)
and Monica The Medium
(November 27 at 20h05). The series Cheerleader
Generation follows the competitive lives of two groups of hardworking
cheerleaders and their completely dedicated coaches. Ms T’s Music Factory
meanwhile, sees a former recording artist turned music manager and performance
coach, in search of the next star. In Monica
The Medium, Monica a college student uses her unique abilities to
help clients communicate with loved ones who are no longer around and to
deliver healing messages from the afterlife.
Lifetime also boasts new seasons of firm
favourites like Married at
First Sight (S9, November 15, 20h05). The massively popular
relationship show heads to Charlotte, North Carolina for season nine and
introduces viewers to eight new singles who agree to legally get married to a
stranger at the altar. For the first time ever all the couples stay in the same
apartment complex after they navigate the tricky terrain of being married to
someone they don’t know.
In December the hot new series Heartbreak Island (December
10 at 21h00) sees twelve single guys and girls put everything on the line in a
bid to find their perfect match and win $100,000. Another brand-new series The Expandables (December 2
at 12.50pm) is a real-world construction show that sees Rob and his crew design
and build space saving renovations spaces for homeowners without adding one
extra square metre.

What would the festive season be without
Lifetime’s heart-warming Christmas movies? Every Saturday and Sunday in
December at 19h20, Lifetime will be spreading holiday cheer in the form of new
holiday season movies. Reunited
at Christmas (December 21 at 19h20) follows the story of Samantha
(Nikki DeLoach) whose beloved grandmother plots from beyond the grave to bring
the family together for one more hometown Christmas. Samantha’s boyfriend,
Simon (Mike Faiola), proposes marriage when she accepts in front of her entire
family she soon realises that she have spoken too soon. In Christmas Reservation (December
29 at 19h20). Holly (played by Melissa Joan Hart) is a pro at planning the
Christmas events at her family's lodge. That is until her college sweetheart
books a stay and tests her personal reservations about love.
