The KZNSA First Thursday programme this week (Thursday, February 6,
2020) will present an intriguing programme for artists and enthusiasts. The
evening begins at 17h00 with a LAB Talk by acclaimed curator and art consultant
at Curate.A.Space, Carol Brown, presenting: The
Art Ecosystem in 2020.
The talk is an in-depth look at how the global and local art worlds
intersect in terms of production and distribution and identity politics.
Illustrated by contemporary examples from the global exhibition space, Brown
explores some of the radical changes the terrain has undergone and how
movements such as #FeesMustFall, #Metoo and environmental problems have
affected what people make and collect.
Patrons are invited to look at the current exhibition, An_Unfurling. This is the last week to
view the show. Young Artist, Yasmien Mackay, will host the last art workshop
part of the education programme this Saturday. The Young Artists' Project is
funded by eThekwini Municipality.
The LAB Talk is followed by an evening in the Arts Cafe with live music
by Ntomb'Yelanga NabaLimi. The shop will be open for gift browsing and buying.
The KZNSA Gallery is situated at 166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, in Durban.
