HELP WOMANDLA KEEP THE ADVICE DESK FOR THE ABUSED OPEN!

Before the #Covid19SA Lockdown, Womandla donated copies of its inaugural Womandla! book of incredible women's writing to the Advice Desk for the Abused - an anti-Domestic Violence NGO, founded by renowned pioneers Judge Navi Pillay and Dr Anshu Padayachee.

“We did this to support The Desk's critical services, by helping them pay their basic expenses of counselors and telephones. Due to the #Covid19SA Lockdown, as we know, domestic violence and gender-based violence have increased, leaving many victims vulnerable to danger and harm, including death,” says a representative.

“The Desk will struggle to sell the Womandla 1 books during Lockdown. If you can purchase a copy of Womandla 1, please inbox the Womandla page directly. You can order a book for yourself, a family member or friend, a victim or survivor, someone who enjoys being inspired, or donate a copy (pay it forward).”

Written in 2009: "The Advice Desk For The Abused, a registered, self-funding, non-profit, public-benefit NGO was founded in 1986 and to date has handled in excess of 450,000 reported cases of domestic violence. It has provided crisis intervention, support services and empowerment not only to the victims but also to the perpetrators of violence. Empowerment of women is given priority, as women are the main victims of human rights violations and historic discrimination, even in relative times of peace."
